God has a plan for you

by

Babatope Babalobi

“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”- Jeremiah  29vs.11 Kings James version

“For I know the plans I have for you, to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you an expected end” Jeremiah  29vs.11 NIV Living Bible

How exciting to hear God talking to you directly in this biblical passage. God is telling you that He is your Creator, your Father who art in heaven, and that He created you for a purpose. Though you have your plans of how you are going to live a successful life, God is saying He also has a plan in that direction. And His plan is original, because before you were formed in the womb of your mother, He had known you, and before you were born, He had set you apart.

I have a plan for you says the Lord. Whether you have a personal plan of life or not, God is saying He has a good plan for you. Whether you have clarity of how you intend to chart your life course or you are presently confused about your careers and goals in life, God is saying He has a glorious plan for you. Just like a typical Father has a plan for his children, God has a desires and plans for your life, and what He wants you to become.

What is a plan? A plan is a defined course of action with specific goals and objectives. A plan is time bound and has measurable indicators to show successes or failures. For an individual, it clearly sets out what you intend to achieve in life, how you intend to achieve it, and the time you intend to achieve it. Many people are bothered about their future, and in the quest to know what the future holds for them they get involved in several unscriptural practices including evil consultations with astrologers, sorcerers, mediums, and false prophets.

The scripture quoted above, clearly explains certain things. First, it shows that your life is not purposeless, rudderless, or lacking direction. You are created in life for a purpose, and you are a unique and peculiar person. Common reasoning dictates that if God says He has a plan for you, it means you were not accidentally created. You did not just out from outer space. You parents might had accidentally given birth to you, but God did not accidentally create you.

The second lesson that can be drawn from this passage follows from the first lesson. If you are created for a purpose, then there is a plan for you. Have you ever asked God what His plans are for you or you have been busy trying with your own strength? When God was creating you, he had something in mind that He wanted you to come and achieve on earth. So no matter your situation presently, you must realize there is a divine plan for you waiting to be realized.

The third lesson is that God has a good plan for you. Unlike Satan, whose three-fold ministry is to steal, to kill and to destroy, God ‘s plan as aptly enunciated by Jesus Christ in (John 10:10)  is to give you life in abundance

The fourth lesson from this passage is that we have an idea of the contents of God’s plan. God says my plan is to proper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and an expected end. As you live on a daily basis, you can rest assured that God is working for your prosperity. At times, as you wander in confusion and things are not working out as you had expected, have hope in God. Whenever you are bothered about your future and how you could spend your old age in comfort, be confident that God’s plan has worked out the minutest details of your life and everything will eventually work out as He had planned for you.

If we study 3 John vs. 2, we also find out more about God’s plan for all his children, and these include material prosperity, good health, and eternal salvation: "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosper”

The Spirit of God told me few years ago that my financial poverty then was an embarrassment to God who is more glorified by my comfort. Prosperity comes from the Lord, who gives wealth and honour. It is important for you to believe and know that God is interested in your success and financial prosperity. If you are therefore presently experiencing failures in any area of your life, be convinced that this is not part of God’s plan for you.  Apart from this, God is interested in your good health. Sicknesses and diseases are not His handiwork. One of the specific ministries of Jesus Christ on earth was to heal the sick. Acts 10:38: How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him”. So, God is also interested in our spiritual prosperity and eternal salvation.

Several stories in the Bible clearly shows that God is a master planner, beautiful for all situations, and working all things to achieve a glorious purpose. One of such is the story of Joseph, (Genesis 39-42) the Hebrew slave who became a Prime Minister in a foreign land. This epic story best illustrates the fact that all things work out for the good of God’s children. The brothers of Joseph sold him into slavery as a way of getting rid of him and his vision, but God used it to deliver the whole Israelite nation from famine. All the pains and agonies Joseph went through in the prison were part of the divine plan for him to get into the palace. As long as you remained focused on God, do not be disturbed by the present persecutions and afflictions you are going through. Your wilderness experiences are a training ground for your promotion. Have you been rejected and abandoned by those you thought would love you and care for you? Do not worry, God has a better plan for you and He is working it out.

The only thing that may hinder the materialization of God’s good plan for you is disobedience or compromise with the devil. If Joseph has succumbed to the lecherous advances of Potiphar’s wife, he would have lost out of God’s plan for him. Do not allow temporary pleasures to hinder your glorious future.  Remain focused on God and fear him no matter the costs. The rewards for obedience are far greater than the temporary pleasures of sin.

As I conclude this message, I like to say that God’s plan for us, is not only to live a fulfilled and prosperous life here on earth. The greatest plan of God for us is our salvation, for us to spend eternity with him in heaven. The original plan of God in creating man is for man to keep his companionship and live forever. Man lost that opportunity, and were placed under a curse, because of  the disobedience of Adam and Eve. (Genesis 3).  God in love worked out another plan, that will free man from the dominion of sin and the power of death, restoring the original plan of man living forever in companionship with Him.

The genealogy, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ were aimed at achieving this singular purpose. Jesus was the only sinless man that ever lived on earth and therefore never came under the curse of Eden or could also not be accused by Satan. . He did not inherit any sin because of his divine birth. By killing Jesus for no just cause, Satan lost his moral authority to continue to whole men into ransom because of the original sin of the Garden of Eden. Jesus is the only man that did not inherited any sin from Adam, and those who come to him, He is able to save from the powers of hell and grave.

This is the greatest plan of God for you, that you may be saved from the curse of death that came upon the whole world, and be redeemed in the name of the perfect man, Jesus Christ to spend eternity in heaven. This is the plan of life that you cannot afford to miss. Fortunately, there is no price tag to benefit from this plan.  Jesus has paid the price of our iniquities on the cross. Satan had not right to either accuse or crucify Jesus. By exercising that act of unrighteousness, Satan lost the power to accuse any one who comes to Jesus for salvation.

Do you want to benefit from God’s greatest plan for you? Then be engraved to Jesus today. All you have to do is to confess him as Lord and Saviour. Immediately heavens and earth hears this confession, you will be automatically freed from the dominion of darkness.

Do you wish to repent of your little sins today? Do you want to be reconciled with God, through Jesus the Lord and Saviour? Then say this simple prayer:

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and have fallen short of your glory. I genuinely repent from all my sins and pledge to go and sin no more.  I accept your plan to reconcile mankind to you through Jesus Christ, who you sent in your name. I believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, and died on the Cross to pay the penalty for my sins and redeem me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I pray that His blood washes my sins away. I invite the Holy Spirit to rule my Life. I am born again in Jesus name.
